Leslie Hill celebrates 20 years of opening to the public

THE LESLIE family are this year celebrating 20 years of opening their Ballymoney grounds to the general public.

Leslie Hill parkland, heritage collection and the open farm were officially revealed to the public in 1989 and it was the family’s intention to conserve many aspects of the past and to give their visitors the opportunity to share all that this unique place has to offer.

Leslie Hill House is a fine example of a Georgian House built in 1756 by James Leslie and forms the centrepiece of a working open farm, woodland and heritage collection. The house is set in mature parkland with views of the Sperrins.

To mark the 20th year, Mr and Mrs James Leslie lead a short tour last Friday afternoon. This was followed by the official opening by the Mayor of Ballymoney, Cllr Frank Campbell of a new Eco Trail and the refurbished adventure playground. Invited guests were then treated to afternoon tea in Leslie Hill House.

This summer visitors can take part in art and environment workshops, Living History - Taste and See in Johnny Curries House and Wake up to Wildlife sessions.

Visitors will find something to enjoy - a pony and trap ride, a lakeside walk and a zip down a tree slide or a noisy introduction to a Turkey.

There’s lots going on at Leslie Hill so why not call down? It is open from 11am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 1pm until 5.30pm from 1pm until 5.30pm.

Call 028 276 66803 for further information or a 20th year value package.
