Glenshesk footpath passes first hurdle

A ROADS chief says a proposal for a footpath in the Glenshesk Road near Armoy has met the criteria to progress for further more detailed appraisal.

Divisional Roads Manager Deidre Mackle contacted Moyle Council and said the footpath from Turreagh Terrace past the Glens Rovers GAC grounds and connecting St Olcan’s Chapel, a distance of around 460 metres, is being considered.

In a letter to Moyle Council, the Roads Manager stated: ‘This proposal has been added to a list of similar schemes in the Moyle District Council area that will be developed in accordance with current policy and procedures.

‘Subject to gaining approval at the various stages of the development process, a scheme proposal may then progress through to prioritisation within a future years works programme.

‘Prioritisation will take account of future funding availability along with a number of other key issues including the technical merit of the scheme, Council consultation, as well as Roads Service high-level priorities.’
