Giant’s Causeway beats Big Ben
MSN poll reveals Giant’s Causeway and Stonehenge as Britain’s best-loved landmarks
A new survey by MSN.co.uk reveals that the people of Britain favour ancient landmarks and spectacles of nature over more recent achievements in architecture – rating Giant’s Causeway as the greatest British landmark.
The other top landmarks that capture people’s hearts are Stonehenge and Durdle Door.
MSN.co.uk asked its readers to choose their ‘greatest landmark’ in the UK, from a list of 25 locations.
In a list of the most famous landmarks, top choice with over a fifth of votes was the Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland (21%), closely followed by Wiltshire’s prehistoric monument Stonehenge (11%), with Durdle Door in Dorset taking third place (9%).
Surprisingly, London landmarks Westminster Abbey and Hampton Court Palace only managed 1% of the votes each, with the iconic Big Ben securing a mere 5% of all votes.

Our overseas guests can discover many fascinating places away from the crowds though, and we hope that with the spotlight on Britain this summer, that they are inspired by what they see and choose Britain for their next holiday.”
