Drain ‘problems’
BALLYCASTLE SDLP councillor Dónal Cunningham is calling on the Roads Service to flush the road drains on a more regular basis at Leyland Road opposite the hospital in the town.
“I have been contacted by a number of residents who have spoken of a long-running problem where after heavy rain are left with pools of water outside their homes because the drainage was completely inadequate.
“Notwithstanding the threat to potential flooding, large amounts of standing water on are a nuisance the elderly, infirm, wheelchair-users and mums and dads with prams who find it hard enough to get about even when it’s not raining. I am writing to the Roads Service to call on them to flush the road drains at Leyland Road more regularly.”
