Business Agency helps spark new business

BRIGHT spark Ronan McGahon has decided to Go For It and start his own business.

The electrical contractor and young entrepreneur decided that it was time he took control and he has put his energy into doing what he knows best.

Ronan, who recently completed the Start a Business programme at North Antrim Business Agency, is taking his skills out on the road to provide homes and businesses with safe and reliable electrical installations and repairs.

As well as having a number of satisfied clients already, Ronan’s credentials also speak for themselves. He was one of the UK’s top 10 Apprentices and was also the Apprentice of the Year for Limavady College where he trained, achieving the best grades recorded at the college for his work. Ronan has also been nominated for the Advantage NI Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Ronan said: “I had all the technical experience and knowledge of electrics, but I wasn’t sure how to put the business into practice so I attended the Go For It Programme at North Antrim Business Agency.

“The Business Agency helped me formulate a plan to get my business up and running and also mentored me through my early stages so I never felt alone and always had somewhere to turn for advice and a chat.

“I now employ 2 people and we’re branching out into new markets, being able to provide anything electrical from garden and agricultural installations to maintenance work for businesses.

Pat Mulvenna works closely with the budding entrepreneurs at North Antrim Business Agency. Pat stated:

“The Go For It Programme is FREE to anyone who wants to start or grow their business. You’ll receive training and one to one advice and we will help you to address any issues which your business might come up against.

“On the programme we also help you identify grants and other sources of finance, and we help you to complete your own business plan.”
