Be sensible: Halloween call

North Antrim DUP MLA Mervyn Storey has made a Halloween call for people to be sensible and to show consideration to others.

His comments come as already in some places fireworks can be heard being set off.

Mervyn Storey said; “Regrettably my office has again been contacted by people who have been tranitised by fireworks near to their home over the last few days.

“I have in the past said that it would be far better to simply attend a civic fireworks display rather than organise any kind of private function. However if people do decide to do so I would urge people to be careful around fireworks and to follow the proper instructions when working with fireworks, so as to ensure that safety is not compromised.

“I very much welcome the police taking amore proactive approach on this matter as well.

I would also call upon people to remember that there are many homes with elderly or infirm residents, many with shift workers, many with very young children, and many with household pets, where what might be a bit of fun to some, can be unwelcome and even frightening to others.”
