Ballymoney Rotary Club annual charity breakfast

BALLYMONEY Rotary Club are preparing for their Annual Charity Breakfast.

As in previous years the breakfast will be held in The Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre on Wednesday, March 13th between 7.30 am and 10am.

This year’s President John Dempsey has chosen RNIB Northern Ireland as the main beneficiary along with other local charities. Over the years the club has been holding the event, well in excess of £20,000 has been raised from the local community whose loyal support the club is very thankful for.

Charities who have been supported have included Marie Curie, Children’s Hospice, Parkinson’s Disease Society, MacMillan Nurses, to name but a few.

RNIB Northern Ireland support blind and partially sighted people. At least 46,000 people in Northern Ireland have some degree of sight loss and

that figure is set to double by 2050. Day to day problems include isolation for one in five who cannot go out by themselves. 66% of working age people are unemployed and educational achievement is lower due in big part to the fact that only 7% of books are available in a braille format.

RNIB has three main objectives in their support of blind and partially sighted people: 1, to stop people losing their sight unnecessarily; 2, to support independent living; 3, to help create an inclusive society.

The breakfast is open to all and very hearty meal will be provided from fruit and cereals to a full Ulster Fry.The cost is £10 or £8 for

children of school age.

The club would be delighted to welcome you along but if you wish to support the charity but cannot make it donations will be gratefully received by any member of the club.
