Ballymoney mum Julie Hogg along with her husband and friends took part in the Belfast Marathon earlier this year to raise much needed funds for TinyLife, Northern Irelands premature baby charity.

Julie (PICTURED LEFT) wanted to take on a challenge and raise funds in memory of her second child, Alex who was born prematurely at Antrim Area Hospital in January 2009, but who sadly passed away a short time after birth.

Thanks to friends, family and work colleagues who not only helped her with sponsorship but also with raffles and ‘dessert days’ at her office, Julie has raised a massive £4166.50. Julie’s fundraising will not only help TinyLife but will also be used to support the Neonatal Unit at Antrim Area Hospital.

Gillian Breen, TinyLife Community Fundraiser said: “It’s thanks to the support we get from local people like Julie that we are able to continue to provide our services to families across Northern Ireland.”

Every day in Northern Ireland seven babies are born too soon, some will arrive as early as 24 weeks and weigh as little as 1lb!. TinyLife provides practical and emotional support to the parents of premature and vulnerable babies through our raft of family support services including hospital to home visitation programme, breast pump loan service, family activity, baby massage and dads club.
