Moyle District Council is to install another three Camping Cabins in The Glens.
The move comes after the additional cabins had been suggested by Glens Sinn Fein Councillor Colum Thompson after a previous meeting with council officers.
Welcoming the news Councillor Thompson said; “It is great news that Council has agreed to my suggestion of additional Camping Cabins.
“The Cabins which were installed this time last year have proven very popular with tourists and were booked solid throughout summer 2013. The occupancy figures from our existing Cabins in 2013 indicated that these new Cabins should completely pay for themselves within two years.
“Improving the tourism infrastructure and the continued promotion of The Glens as a tourist destination is essential for sustaining and growing local businesses and creating jobs.
“I have suggested that two Cabins are installed in Cushendall Caravan Park and one in Cushendun Caravan Park and I hope that businesses in both villages benefit from the anticipated increase in tourists using the facilities.”
