Speaking during a discussion on Capital Projects at a meeting of the Causeway Coast and Glens Shadow Council, Sinn Féin Councillor Cara McShane has said that Sinn Féin will continue the fight for leisure facilities in what is currently Moyle District area.
Cllr Mc Shane said: “I want to put on record that ratepayers of Ballycastle and the Glens have a clear case for increased Leisure provision within the new Council. This includes both indoor and outdoor facilities and the provision of a public swimming pool. Sinn Féin have put this on the record tonight and we intend to pursue this issue to ensure equality of services right across the new Council area.”
“This is an issue which I, in conjunction with my party colleagues, have been highlighting for many years.”
“It is unacceptable that the people who live within the Glens DEA do not have access to adequate leisure facilities which are not only good for the promotion of a healthier, more active lifestyle and employment in the area but are also additional services that would benefit the tourist industry in this area of outstanding natural beauty.”
