The Mayor of Ballymoney has praised council workers who, he says, will be out collecting bins over the holiday period so that no householder will miss a day’s collection.

“This is a tremendous achievement and not many councils would offer this service. We are indebted to our workers,” he added.

Bin collection services of the holiday period will operate as normal on Christmas and Boxing Days and New Year.

The brown bin collection service is suspended until Monday, March 24.

Knock Road and Crosstagherty household recycling centres will be closed on the three days and will have curtailed opening time on Christmas Eve - 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Household recyling centres will open as normal at all other times.

The waste handling and transfer facility at Crosstagherty will be closed to commercial customers on the three days and will open from 8.45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

No street cleansing will take place on Boxing Day and a curtailed service will operate on Christmas and New Year’s Day, it was decided at a recent council meeting.
