Police are investigating a suspected arson at McGaw Park, Ballymoney after a dug out was set alight just before 10pm on Tuesday 03 June.

The dug out was burned to the ground during the incident, but no one was injured. Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

Ballymoney neighbourhood policing team worked with the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) in Ballymoney on Sunday, June 8 to address the issue of unsafe modified vehicles. The joint operation saw the DVA use a mobile testing station to test 20 vehicles. In total, 14 cars had faults detected. Out of that fourteen, four had faults so dangerous that the vehicles were put off the road.

Police used a range of sanctions to deal with the owners of the unsafe vehicles. Police will file reports to the Public Prosecution Service in relation to some, others received fixed penalty notices and a number were ordered to rectify their vehicles with 14 days.

The overall message to drivers of modified vehicles is to play your part in making the roads safer for everyone.
