Cushendall beach is to have an outdoor gym installed and street lighting extended along the beach.
Moyle District Council voted last night (Monday) to accept a tender for £50,774.39 to carry out the scheme.
However, there was some concern that the lowest tender - which was accepted - came in at £10,000 more than the council budget.
Some councillors expressed concern that lighting along the beach would encourage drinking parties and would add to environmental light pollution.
However, a vote was taken and it was decided to proceed with the project, with Moyle Council making up the shortfall of £10,000
