NORTH Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey has urged Ballymoney Borough Council to keep the issue of lignite alive.
The issue was raised during a recent Full Council meeting when the Head of Corporate and Development Services asked members if they wished to seek any further information on the lignite issue following a NI Geological Survey.
In response Cllr Storey said: “I think we should write back to the Minister and ask for an update. There was talk of alternative ways of getting lignite from the ground.
“I say we try to keep the issue alive and push for more information so we get no surprises.”
