North Antrim Assembly Member and Social Development Minister Mervyn Storey has spoke out on the news of major Job Losses at JTI Gallaher.
In a statement to the Times, Ballymoney Cllr Storey said: “The news that JTI Gallaher in Ballymena is closing is a devastating blow to North Antrim and the economy in Northern Ireland. My thoughts are very much with those most affected, and their families, at this time of great uncertainty and shock. Many of the staff have been with the company for much of their working lives and will have expected to stay there for the foreseeable future.
“I want to assure these employees and their families that I will be working with party and Executive colleagues to see what can be done to help everyone involved.
“It will be my main priority to work to find a way to mitigate the impact of these job losses.”
