THERE are few things that Armoy man, Jamie McCook, hasn’t experienced in a colourful and eventful life.
His reputation as a businessman, hard man and family man are well known, but even Jamie might have to take a deep breath to contemplate another fact that he may not have given much consideration to.
For when he celebrated his 84th birthday with a party at the Carrick-a-Rede in Ballintoy on Saturday night it was revealed that Jamie’s family has grown considerably down the years.
According to our information Jamie has nine children, 35 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. It seemed that most were there on Saturday night to help this very popular figure blow out the candles.
Looking fresh and fit, Jamie, also known widely as ‘The Indian’ was in good mood and enjoyed plenty of back slaps and handshakes as friends joined with family for plenty of food, music, and dancing.
Some of Jamie’s closest friends were present and Carrick-a-Rede proprietor, Shan McGinn, even insisted on having his picture taken with the North Antrim legend such is his popularity.
Jamie is a regular Saturday night patron at the Carrick-a-Rede and enjoys the music and the crack.
The legs may not be as quick as they once wear, but the wit is still as sharp as ever and, above all, the man knows how to party!
