That most special of family relationships - grandparents and their grandchildren - was celebrated in artistic style in St Brigid’s Primary School in Ballymoney last week.

St. Brigid’s Primary School held a special Grandparents’ Day event to mark Catholic Schools’ Week.

In preparation for the day, the children created a portrait gallery of their grandparents.

Each portrait was framed and displayed around the school.

Grandparents attended Mass in the church to mark St. Brigid’s Day and then returned to the school for refreshments and the opportunity to view the gallery.

The grandparents were thrilled to see their portraits and to have the opportunity to purchase them, with proceeds going to charity and school funds.

These lovingly created masterpieces can be viewed on the school’s website - www.stbrigidspsballymoney.com

The phrase “bursting with pride” doesn’t do justice to the feelings of the grandparents that day so we will let Times photographer Sammy McMullan’s photographs tell the story...
