A Rasharkin parent and toddlers group has been operating in the village for almost a year thanks to a £2,600 funding boost from the Housing Executive.

Rasharkin Community Association received a community grant to set up the weekly group for children aged three and under, buying toys and books and hiring out a venue in the village.

There are currently up to 18 children attending the group every Thursday in Rasharkin Community Centre. Two trips were also funded to allow the children to enjoy a day out at Cheeky Chimps and Monkey Business.

Rasharkin Community Association Secretary, Mary Gilmore, said: “Parents are definitely delighted that the facility is available to them. We would like to thank the Housing Executive for the grant, without it the group would not have been possible,” added the Secretary.

Breige Mullaghan, Housing Executive in Ballymoney, said: “We are delighted to have supported this initiative. Our community grants are a sign of our commitment to local families and our desire to invest in the future.”
