Ulster Unionist councillor Darryl Wilson has called on Transport NI to rethink how it deals with grass cutting at all junctions across the Borough.

He said : “At this time of year we see rapid growth of grass on roadside verges and at road junctions due to the weather conditions.

“I understand that Transport NI are facing resource restrictions and that roadside verges can only be cut once a year.

“Grass at junctions however should be cut on a regular basis providing drivers with the best possible visibility to ensure safe driving conditions.

“Some local junctions have had surrounding grass cut in the last few weeks, but such a small area was cut that very little if any improvement to visibility for motorists was achieved.

“I have asked Transport NI to urgently re-examine the frequency of grass cutting at junctions and to expand the area cut to improve visibility.”
