Urgent calls made for prayers after Joe Lamont's condition deteriorates

Calls have today been made for prayers to support four-year-old youngster Joe Lamont, who is recovering from a liver donation.

A post on 'Joe's Amazing Journey' Facebook page added earlier today says: 'PLEASE PRAY!!!

'Joe had been going down hill as past few days and Sarah thought it was a chest infection but sadly joe has fluid around his heart and suffered a cardiac arrest about 2hours ago.

'Docs resuscitated him and have drained 350ml off him. At the moment joe is stable but critical '

A Just Giving page - launched with the hope of raising £3500 to help Joe and his mum Sarah - has now raised £4820.

The youngster from Ballymena in Co Antrim underrwent the transplant just last month.

A message on the page reads: 'Joe Lamont was born with a rare genetic disorder which caused him to have his kidneys removed at a few months old. Since then he has been on dialysis 3 times a week! Joe desperately needs a liver and kidney transplant, in July this year he developed sepsis which almost cost him his life- they believe the sepsis was caused by his liver! Thankfully his mum- Sarah was confirmed as a match and passed the medical to become a live donor! So tomorrow Sarah will donor a third of her liver to Joe and hopefully in the spring will donate a kidney! This isn't without risks and is going to involve a long time in hospital in Birmingham! As many of you know Sarah has 2 older kids- Max and Eve who both love their wee brother dearly! This is why we are asking for help- help to cover costs of flying the kids to Birmingham as often as possible, flying friends/family over to help sarah and Joe, the financial strain of living in a hotel room for months is huge and not something that should be worried about at this time! If any money is raised that is not needed to support during this time will be put towards a play park for Joe at his home as he wont be able to do integrate with other kids etc for a while after transplants.'
