The National Trust has this week advised visitors to the Giant’s Causeway in the year ahead to expect significant disruption at the site.
The Trust is currently undertaking a major £18.5million project to replace visitor facilities on site. The project is now well and truly underway; however the Trust is advising visitors to expect a very obvious knock on effect on drivers and visitors to the Causeway in the period ahead.
Already in low season, the area is experience a high volume of traffic disruption on and around the site.
Commenting on the works to date and the side effects from the building works, Ali Walker, Site Manager, said: “The builder, Gilbert Ash, is making excellent progress on the project with the foundations and the ground slab now in place. With this intense progress there are some difficult management issues to resolve which will have a continuing impact on members and visitors. While the site is open for business, it is definitely not business as usual.”
