Members of the Ballymoney Library Knit and Natter club are putting their needles together in support of the Barnardo’s NI Barney Bear knitting campaign.
Barnardo’s NI is appealing for enthusiastic knitters to help create a range of unique jumpers for Barney. The Barney’s and their individually created jumpers, with each knitter’s name attached, will be raffled later in the year to raise funds for Barnardo’s vital work with less-advantaged and vulnerable children across Northern Ireland.
The patterns, which were specially developed for Barney by the knitters at Ballyhackamore Library, are available in local libraries and online at HYPERLINK “http://www.yourhealthinmind.org” www.yourhealthinmind.org. All you have to do is supply the wool, your time and creativity - kites, spots, stars and stripes – let your imagination take flight!
Once your jumper is created please bring it to your local library and don’t forget to include your first name and where you are from.
Sarah Crowther from Libraries NI Health in Mind project said: “Knitting and volunteering are two fantastic ways to look after your wellbeing. Libraries NI has over 80 knitting groups meeting regularly in libraries across Northern Ireland and we are delighted to bring them together in support of the Barnardo’s Barney Bear knitting campaign. It promises to be a truly rewarding experience for everyone involved. “
