Ballymoney DUP councillor John Finlay has welcomed the appointment of Rev Ian McNie as the new Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

Cllr Finlay said: “I have written to Rev Ian McNie, minister of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney, to

offer him my warmest congratulations on his election as Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland for 2015/16.

“I was delighted by the result, not only because Mr McNie is based in a church in Ballymoney, but, more importantly, because he is a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, a faithful preacher of the Gospel and a fearless defender of the faith.

“The role of Moderator is challenging and demanding in so many ways, but God is always with His people as they seek to faithfully serve Him, and Mr McNie will have the support and prayers, not only of the members of the Presbyterian denomination, but right across the conservative evangelical spectrum.

“I assure him of my prayerful best wishes as he takes up his important role in June”.
