A 19-year-old Liscolman man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a road traffic collision in Coleraine in October.

Craig McCook died on Sunday as a result of injuries sustained in the road traffic collision that occurred on the Strand Road, Coleraine, on Tuesday 21 October.

The son of well-known Ballymoney postman Jeremy McCook and his wife Alexia, Craig was a past pupil of Ballycastle High School.

Craig’s grandmother, Mrs. Jean McCook, is a prominent and respected member of Billy Parish Church.

Mayor of Ballymoney, Alderman Bill Kennedy, expressed his sympathy to the McCook family on the loss of their son.

“It is really sad that this accident has ended up in the death of such a young man,” said the Mayor.

“I know that this death has left a lot of young local people extremely shocked.

“I would like to offer my sympathy to both families involved at this sad time.”

Inspector Trevor Atkinson said: “This road traffic collision, involving a silver Lexus, has tragically ended up to be fatal. I reiterate our appeal and ask for anyone who knows anything to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station or Coleraine Police Station on the non emergency number 101.”
