A Ballycastle family who run a fairground during the Lammas Fair threw the rides open to local families FREE of charge to thank the locals for their support during the annual fair.

Brendan and Stephanie McLaughlin of McLaughlins Amusements made the generous offer following a busy Lammas Fair season.

“We are very grateful for all the support that we got from the local people and visitors during our time in Fun Land, Ballycastle this summer,” said Stephanie.

She added that “as a massive thank you to you all” they were opening all the rides in the fairground for free for local families.

The gesture, which was posted on the Facebook page ‘Things we would like to see in Ballycastle’, received many comments with messages such as: “Fair play to you and Brendan ...lovely gesture”.

Another person posted: “Well done folks. Nice to see the local people getting good support from the community. It makes you wonder why nearly every bit of ground about has to be let out for amusements, when we see this positive feed back from the community, why do we need the big stuff in for the fair?”
