A Ballymoney community choir is to perform in Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart this weekend as a tribute to Ahoghill school teacher Lauren Minford who was killed in a traffic collision in 2013.
The directors of choir Dolce, Cathy Dempsey and Krystina Graham, said that they wanted to dedicate a concert to Lauren to mark the first anniversary of her death.
“Lauren was killed in a tragic car collision on March 1st 2013 on her way to work in Culcrow Primary School,” said Cathy.
“Krystina and I were asked to provide the music at Lauren’s funeral. Music was Lauren’s life, alongside her passion for teaching, so we made sure the service was filled with beautiful music from start to finish.
“Lauren was taken out of the church as we played ‘Fields of Gold’ and this is the reason Dolce Community Choir will be performing this beautiful piece - it was one of Lauren’s favourites.
“Lauren had a heart of gold and always made a lasting impression on everyone that she met.
“Her bubbly personality, friendly smile and beautiful wee face will never be forgotten.”
The concert in Flowerfield takes place this Friday (April 11th) at 8pm. Refreshments served at 7.30pm
Admission price is £10. A limited number of tickets is still available from Flowerfield Arts Centre on (028) 7083 1400.
Proceeds from the concert will go to charity The Compassionate Friends which works with bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents.
