DUNAGHY Accordion band have marked another milestone in their history by celebrating their Diamond anniversary.

Members and their families attended a dinner at the Millside Restaurant in Cloughmills to mark sixty years of parading at demonstrations throughout North Antrim and beyond.

Bandmistress, Naomi Campbell, was delighted with the turnout and said it reflected the enthusiasm and dedication of those associated with Dunaghy.

In 1953, the Lodge, 791, formed a band committee in September. Less than a year later, the band was up and running. New instruments and uniforms were dedicated at a ceremony on June 19, 1954 at a cost of £607.

Over the years, in excess of 300 members have passed through the ranks and while the band have had their ups and downs, they have always attended the Twelfth of July celebrations.

When Dunaghy celebrated fifty years back in
2004 they released a CD and dedicated new uniforms at the Orange hall. A band parade in Ballymoney also
took place to mark
the occasion.
