Children learn to be ‘streetwise’

ALMOST 300 children learned to ‘Be streetwise/Bee safe’ in Ballymoney.

Nearly three hundred schoolchildren took part in a “Be streetwise/Bee safe” scheme run by a number of organisations.

The Parish Centre, Queen Street, Ballymoney, hosted the event for P7 children who were put through safety scenarios set up by HAP Ballymoney, Borough Services (including healthy eating, noise awareness and litter), PSNI, Fire and Rescue Service, NIE, Coastguard, students from the University of Ulster, H&SE Farm Safety and Translink.

At a Ballymoney Bourough Council Health and Environmental Services Committee it was agreed that a sum of £150 be contributed to St Patrick’s Parish Church, in respect of the use of the Church Hall, from within the existing Directorate budget.

Credit was paid to the staff and Borough Services Directorate for all their work in providing such a well organised and efficient event.
