A group of Northern Ireland driving instructors are taking part in a driving lesson relay that left Londonderry last week and finishes some 2100 miles later in Birmingham on 14th November - and it’s all in aid of Children in Need!

In all it will take 13 days, 2130+ miles, 147 lead driving lessons and many hundreds of instructors and pupils joining the convoy across the UK.

The relay called at Biesty’s Centra in Ballymoney on Thursday where the baton (a specially designed roofbox) was handed over to local instructor Robin Excell and his pupil for the next leg down to Castledawson.

The brainchild of an around Britain driving lesson relay is Hampshire mum and ADI Louise Walsh, Louise was inspired by last year’s Children in Need to organise the epic two week long driving lesson relay and put the idea on a driving instructor blog, within hours over 650 instructors had contacted her offering support.

A certain bear called Pudsey made an appearance at Biesty’s to welcome the fundraisers.
