Ballymoney Cancer Research Committee have paid tribute to the volunteers who helped raise the fantastic figure of £41,500 this year.

Mervyn Ferris praised fundraising events such as Old Vehicle Clubs, the annual band parade, fun run and golf event, breakfast and van pull by the local Post Office Staff, Mrs Iris Stewart and family’s annual Big Breakfast, annual collection outside Tesco, collection boxes at various shop locations around the town.

“We are also extremely grateful to those who have made donations in lieu of flowers following the loss of a loved one over the past year,” he said.

A number of certificates of recognition were presented to Iris Stewart and family raising £3255 by organising ‘The Big Breakfast’ 2014; Post Office Staff from Ballymoney Sorting Office raising £6394 in 2014; Ballymoney Rugby Club who collectively with members of the Ladies Rugby team raised £1537 during ‘Movember’ and a Ladies Rugby Tournament; members of the Topp Regeneration Group.

This year’s Community Spirit Award was presented to Bobby Davis for his services to collections in aid of Cancer Research over several years.
