Busy times ahead for Glarryford YFC

As Glarryford YFC members enter the month of May they certainly haven’t time to be taking a ‘Spring’ break as the coming months will be as busy as ever.

The girls recently took part in the ladies five-a-side football heats at Greenmount College and had a great turn out with two senior teams taking part.

Congratulations and good luck to the team of Margaret Dunlop, Rachael Frew, Emma Johnston, Cathy Knowles and Cathy Reid who will now play at the finals at Balmoral show. Also taking part at Balmoral Show is Jessica Reid who is competing in the Northern Ireland Finals of the Floral Art Competition and Glarryford’s Irish Dancers are appearing on stage at the YFC stand – good luck to all our representatives.

Members are busy preparing for a three day bath-push covering 70 miles – a mile for each year of their 70th anniversary celebrations. The bath will leave on the morning of Saturday 24th May and return home on the evening of 26th May. All donations will go to the Club’s charities – Clic Sargent and Meningitis Now.

The route is as follows:

Saturday 24th May – Cullybackey- Galgorm- Ahoghill- Portglenone- Rasharkin- Ballymoney

Sunday 25th May – Ballymoney- Coleraine- Portstewart- Portrush

Monday 26th May – Portrush- Ballybogey- Ballymoney- Dunloy- Glarryford

The club’s annual sports night is on Friday 4th July at 7pm – field will be signposted from Glarryford cross. The evening will include 5 aside boys and girls football, digger handling, tossing the sheaf, kiddies races, bouncy castles and a BBQ – something for all the family!
