CAFRE has appointed a new Dairying Development Adviser to help local dairy farmers develop their businesses.

Zara Morrison will join the Northern Team in their Crown Buildings offices in Coleraine.

“I’m really looking forward to working with dairy producers around Coleraine and North Antrim to help support them in developing their businesses, through technology and knowledge transfer,” Zara explained.

“I will also be delivering CAFRE Benchmarking which allows farm businesses to compare their performance to other similar types of farm. This means farmers can identify weaknesses and make the necessary improvements so that their farm profit can be improved.

“I am particularly glad to be working along with an experienced advisory team and to have the support of technologists and business specialists at CAFRE,” she added.

After completing her National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Agriculture at Greenmount Campus CAFRE, Zara then moved to the Scottish Agricultural College, Edinburgh where she graduated with a BSc in Agriculture (Hons) in 2010.

Zara gained experience on the home farm and working in industry for the Suffolk Sheep Society before joining DARD in 2014 and working for the Online Services team based at Greenmount.

Zara will be playing a prominent role in the new Business Development Groups in Coleraine, Ballymoney and Ballycastle. For more information call Zara on 028 7034 6863 or email zara.morrison@dardni.gov.uk
