Ballymoney Borough Council in association with the Bank of Ireland is delighted to announce the next Countryside Event in the summer 2014 programme.

Stranocum Village is the starting and finishing point for this three-mile circular route, allowing walkers the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the Bush Valley and Livery Hill, once an historic horse-racing course.

The route includes sections of the River Bush, quiet country lanes and the Metal Bridge foot crossing at a ford in the River. Views of this idyllic rural countryside include thatched dwelling houses and the historic Stranocum Hall dating back to the 18th century when the Hutchinson family owned the estate.

Ballymoney Museum staff will be on hand to give some historical background. Light refreshments will be available at the finish. Meet at the Bush Picnic Area Car Park, Stranocum at 7pm and wear walking boots or “wellies.” Cost £2 per person. For further information telephone the Countryside Access Officer on 028 276 60227 or the Biodiversity Officer on 028 703 47272. Or visit www.ballymoney.gov.uk
