SDLP Antrim representative Margaret Anne McKillop has condemned the placing of incendiary device and a second hoax bomb at Ballycastle Police Station.

Cllr McKillop who is chair of the East Antrim District Policing and Community Safety Partnership said: “Ballycastle is a peaceful seaside resort where businesses and community leaders are working hard to build and regenerate the wealth of the area so that sustainable jobs can be created.

“To do that we need to reinforce the message that Ballycastle is not only attractive to visitors but safe.

“Those involved in this incident and others are doing nothing to help us create a new future for Ballycastle and are at odds with the people of Glens of Antrim who are renowned for their friendship, warmth and hospitality.

“It is shameful that those who want to tarnish this image with their devices of war which have done nothing to build the future of an Ireland I want to live in and be proud of.”
