Boys speak out against waste!

MOYLE District Council held the local heats of the Environmental Youth Speak 2013 competition, now in its 15th year on Wednesday.

This is an annual public speaking competition with topics based on environmental issues and is open to pupils throughout Northern Ireland from both primary and secondary schools.

All speeches from the pupils were excellent and the winners from Moyle District council were: junior section Connlaoth McTaggart from St Olcan’s Primary School, his speech title was “My waste’s got talent: what can it become?” and the winner from the senior section was Cormac Donnelly from Cross and Passion College with the speech title was “The true cost of waste”.

Thanks to all the schools for encouraging their pupils to take part in this competition. Both boys now go on to represent the Moyle District Council area in the Regional Finals which will be held in the Roe Valley Civic Centre in Limavady on 13th March.
