There were bouquets and brickbats for statutory bodies and their respective responses to the recent flooding in areas of Moyle Council.
Meeting on Monday night, Moyle District Council members were told that only three properties in the area were eligible for financial assistance due to flooding.
Cllr Joan Baird praised the Water Service whom, she said, supplied sandbags very quickly around Armoy.
However, Cllr Margaret Anne McKillop said she was disappointed as the sandbags container which had been purchased for the Glens ward of the Council still had not arrived.
Therefore, she said, the sandbags which were delivered to the area were soaked through which would not have happened if they had been stored properly in the container.
Cllr Padraig McShane said he shared Cllr McKillop’s concerns and agreed that while Roads Service had deliverd sandbags, there needed to be a central container in the area permanently.
Chairman of Moyle District Council, Cllr Donal Cunningham said that Enviromental Services would be tasked to contact Roads Service for an update on the matter.
He added that when Council has been putting together a resilience plan, they were planning for severe winter weather and not summer!
