Police in Ballymoney arrested a man on Saturday afternoon and seized a machete from a flat in the town.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident at a flat in the Charles Street area on Saturday, 9th August.
Specially trained officers were called to the area following a report that a woman had been seriously injured by a person armed with a machete. Police recovered a machete from the flat and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment for a serious head injury.
It is not thought, however, that the head injury is life threatening.
The man is still being held in custody and the police investigation continues.
