Athletes at Ulster Cross Country Finals

Five excellent runners from Loreto College Coleraine qualified to represent the school at the Ulster Cross Country Finals, held at the Mallusk Playing Fields on Wednesday, February 22.

The students who qualified from the NE District event were Niamh McGarry (Year 8), Cara McLaughlin (Year 9), Tolu Jide-Ojo (Year 10), Niamh Carr (Year 12) and Molly Brennan (Year 13). All five performed to a very high standard on the day.

Niamh McGarry took a wonderful second place in the Year 8 Girls’ race, while Niamh Carr was placed third in the Intermediate Girls’ Race and Molly Brennan took seventeenth place in the Senior Girls’ event. Niamh Carr will go on to represent Loreto College and Ulster in the All Ireland Finals – a tremendous achievement. There were excellent performances from Tolu Jide-Ojo and Cara McLaughlin in their respective events.

All five girls were congratulated on their superb performances by Mr Paul Cunning, Co-ordinator of Cross Country Running at Loreto, and by Mr Michael James, College Principal.
