Coleraine Borough Council’s all-new air show ‘Air Waves Portrush’, will welcome what is reputed to be the world’s longest serving aircraft bomber, ‘The Canberra’.

This legendary aircraft will display both days at the air show on the 6th and 7th September.

Paul Sall,’Air Waves Portrush’ new appointed Director commented, “Anyone with a keen interest in air craft will know this air craft display is one not to miss. We’re delighted to have ‘The Canberra’ feature at this year’s air show.

“During its first ten years of service with the Royal Air Force, the Canberra broke nineteen flight records and three altitude records. This includes winning the London to New Zealand Air Race in 1953 with a world speed record and the first jet flight over the North Pole in 1954.

“Most recently, ’The Canberra’ provided support during conflicts in the Balkans and Middle East,” he explained.
