A SUPERMODEL with links to Ballycastle, will be spending more time in Ireland, as she is involved with an RTE fame show.
Erin O'Connor, who regularly visits north Antrim to visit her relatives, will be involved with 'The Model Agent' series which aims to find Ireland's first supermodel.
Erin, who was valued in a newspaper rich list in recent years as having £12 million, is from the Birmingham area in England, and will be a 'mentor' in the tv show.
The search for an Irish beauty will be led by Erin's close friend and the woman who first discovered her - Fiona Ellis.
Ellis is currently scouring the country looking for talent. Erin's role will be that of 'mentor'.
Said Erin: "I can teach them the importance of presence and using personality. We can't just be a face anymore. You have to be an ambassador. You have to be a brand. Careers can be so fleeting these days, so it's up to us to inform the girls that they need to get as much out of it as possible."
And Erin certainly is a good ambassador for her profession as many people in Ballycastle who know her will say. She charmed all her met her when she last visited the north coast.
She has said some of her best memories were spending happy summer holidays in Ballycastle.
Erin was first spotted by Ellis of Independent Models when she was 16. Other well-known faces on Ellis's books include Georgia and Lizzy Jagger (spawn of Mick and Jerry), Helena Christensen, Liz Hurley and our own Jonathan Rhys Meyers, to name but a small few.
'The Model Agent' will be screened on RTE 2 and it is expected to go out in January.
Auditions have already been held in cities across Ireland but you can still enter before September 26 by downloading an entry form from the RTE website at www.rte.ie
You then should return it along with two recent photographs (full length and face) and/or a short DVD show-reel to: The Model Agent, P.O Box 11009, Rathmines, Dublin 6
Applicants must be 16 years of age on the 1st September 2008 and must have their parents consent. Applicants must be 5'7'' or over. Full terms and conditions can be found on the Application Form.
So perhaps we could have a super model who is actually from Ballycastle or elsewhere in north Antrim.
