LIFE was anything but the pits for Ballycastle girl Lynne McLean as she took to Silverstone this weekend with the Royal Air Force.
Aircraftwoman McLean, 20, a former Coleraine College student, has been on hand at the British Grand Prix, to learn more about the RAF and encourage other to find out more.
Lynne joined the RAF earlier this year and recently graduated from basic training at RAF Halton.
She said: "Completing basic training was a dream come true – it was easier than I thought it was going to be.
"I've made loads of friends already and am having a brilliant time."
In her role as an aircraft maintenance mechanic (avionics) at the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering at RAF Cosford, Lynne will be learning to maintain and repair the aircraft electronic, such as the navigation system or the engine's wiring – essential to keep it airborne.
Lynne added: "I can't believe I'm doing it.
"I wanted a job where I would do something different every day, where I could travel and work with aircraft – so the RAF was an obvious choice! I'm looking forward to the training and promotional opportunities ahead, and I'm already enjoying things I wouldn't have been able to do if I hadn't joined the RAF, like being at Silverstone!"
