A man has died after his motorcycle collided with a tractor on the outskirts of Coleraine on Friday morning.
The accident happened on the Ballyrashane Road at about 8.25am. It appears that the man was riding a Honda Fireblade motorcycle towards Coleraine when the bike and a tractor collided.

The dead man has been named as 37-year-old father of three Mark Proctor from Glebe Avenue in Derrykeighen, outside Ballymoney. The funeral was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon with interment at Ballywillan Cemetery. Mr Proctor is survived by his wife Amanda and children Niall, Grace and Molly.

The exact circumstances are still being investigated and police are urging witnesses to come forward.
A police spokesperson said: "Police at Coleraine are investigating the cause of the collision and have urged witnesses to come forward. They also want to speak to anyone who stopped to provide assistance, and in particular from two women who rendered first aid.

"The telephone number to ring is 0845 600 8000, or contact the 'Crimestoppers' charity on freephone 0800 555111."

The Ballyrashane Road, between Coleraine and Ballybogy, was closed for a time after the accident. Motorists were advised to seek an alternative route where possible.

The fatality is the third in the Coleraine police district this year but it brings the total for the Province to 73. Of that, 12 have been motorcyclists and one a pillion passenger.
