A former Armoy man is to be honoured at a ceremony in the village this Friday.
Uel Deane gained worldwide recognition as a tenor and music tutor and was the inspiration behind the twinning arrangement between Moyle and his adopted home in Pourrieres, Southern France.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the twinning and a party of French visitors including the Mayor of Pourrieres will spend five days in Moyle as hosts of the local Association during which time they will attend a number of engagements.
On Friday, a commemorative bench will be unveiled in the Riverside Park area - The Pound - to Uel's memory.
Uel was born in Armoy on October 21st – 73 years ago. His talents as a singer took him far from 'Lovely Armoy'. And it is fitting that there will now be a permanent reminder at 'The Pound' in Armoy to mark his connection with the village.
Armoy Community Association would welcome people from the village or from further afield to join them in the Tilly Molloy Centre, Main Street, Armoy for this occasion.
The Twinning Association views this ceremony as one of the main parts of the visitors' programme.
The unveiling is timed for 10.45am. and Armoy Community Association are encouraging as many as possible to turn up for the event.
Colleagues of Uel's from the singing scene of yesteryear in Belfast will liven up the morning with some fitting music and songs.
So, come along and join in the marking of Uel's passing and the birth of an appreciation of his talents and life's journey.

Willie Graham, and the chairman of Moyle T.A., Cllr. Seamus Blaney. An historical discourse will be delivered by Dr. Bob Curran before the party embark on a tour of the coast with visits to the Salmon Fishery and Old Bushmills Distillery that afternoon.
A workshop has been planned for Corrymeela on Thursday morning during which representatives from education, youth, sport, arts and crafts and the farming community will be present.
A civic dinner is being hosted by Moyle Council and the Twinning Association will hold a separate dinner on Saturday night.
Cllr. Blaney said he was looking forward to the visit and hoped it would help stimulate interest in the twinning arrangement.
