The final talk in Ballymoney Borough Arts Committee’s popular Local History Talks Series for 2012 takes place on Thursday 29 November when local historian S Alex Blair looks at KK McArthur and his Olympic Marathon Victory of 1912.
Local hero, Kennedy Kane McArthur’s magnificent victory in the marathon race at the Stockholm Olympics in 1912 has been well documented this summer. As the centenary year draws to a close, Mr Blair will reflect on the Dervock man’s outstanding achievement and on his life story, and with the advantage of having met and talked with McArthur’s sister and niece many years ago, he will try and get as close as possible to the real McArthur.
The talk takes place at 8pm in Ballymoney Town Hall. Admission £2 includes refreshments.
