Ghaaaaa-stly decorations for Hallowe’en

WOULD you like to make your own ghaaaa-stly decorations with Moyle District Council’s recycling programme for the Hallowe’en season?

Moyle District Council is hosting Hallowe’en craft workshops, one in Cushendall, Bushmills and Ballycastle. These workshops are being funded by a grant from the Department of the Environment’s Rethink Waste campaign.

As well as diverting rubbish from landfill and helping children make their own personal decorations and face masks in time for Hallowe’en it allows children to think more about the rubbish in their home, using their imagination and creativity learn how to turn unwanted household items into a Halloween decoration or mask.

You must be aged between 5 – 11 years and be accompanied by an adult and also bring with you an empty cereal box or cardboard tube to the Hallowe’en Craft workshop.

Owen Lyttle from the Rethink Waste campaign added: “Rethink waste is delighted to support these workshops, and encourages all of us to rethink our attitudes and habits towards the items we own – rather than throwing them away, but look at them differently.

“Hallowe’en certainly provides a great opportunity to be creative and try new things! Changes like these have a massive effect on reducing our contributions to landfill, not to mention saving that little bit of money.”

The Rethink Waste campaign aims to help raise awareness, encourage best practice and achieve behavioural change at home, at work, at school and in the community in order to reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.
