Dunloy band festival and parade

This Saturday 28 July Ballymoney will come alive to the sound of music as members of the Dunloy Acordian Band stage their annual Ulster Scots Festival and parade in the town.

The festival part of the day will begin at Castlecroft at 1pm with a concert featuring some of the finest performers in the province. A line-up that includes Ballyboley pipe band, Mourne Young Defenders flute band, the Dunloy Accordian Band concert group and Maiden City Beat will perform in an open air concert that will last until 5pm. Compered by Fermanagh man Gary Wilson this afternoon’s entertainment is not to be missed. Throughout the day there will also be face painters and Buddy the Clown present to cater for an audience of all ages.

As usual the music will continue into the early evening as there will be performances at Castlecroft from Baillies Mills Accordian Band from 6pm. From 6:30pm the focus will switch to High Street where there will be music provided by Maguiresbridge Silver Band and Omagh Protestant Boys Flute band.

The main parade of bands this year will follow the usual route through the town and will be led by Maguiresbridge Silver Band from County Fermanagh. Spectators are asked to note that this year the parade will move off from the Showgrounds at 7:30pm, half an hour earlier than usual. All of you music enthusiasts may be keen to learn that a few copies of last year’s parade are still available on DVD priced at £5 and can be purchased from Mark on 07871663841. The band is very much looking forward to the whole day this year and extend a warm invitation to everyone to come along and enjoy a fantastic day of music in Ballymoney. They would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ballymoney Borough Council and the Ulster Scots Agency for their sponsorship.
