A NUMBER of people living in the north coast area like to do some shopping for Christmas gifts in the Giant’s Causeway Visitors’ Centre, Moyle councillor Joan Baird says.
The Ulster Unionist representative said several local people go into the shop to buy seasonal gifts and Christmas cards but they don’t like having to pay the £8.50 admission fee!
With that in mind she welcomed plans by the National Trust to allow people in for free on November 24.
Moyle Council was told that items currently sold in the Visitors’ Centre include Keri Shanks jewellery from Portballintrae; McCullough Furniture’s Dundarave Wood; Kitty Dickson jewellery from Ballycastle; Bonamargy Chocolates from Ballycastle and Giant’s Causeway Tartan from Tweedy Acheson in Coleraine.
Sinn Fein councilor Cara McShane said the use of local produce in the shop is “positive”.
