IT’S that time of year again for members of the YFCU to showcase their drama talents in a wide range of competitions.
This year Stephanie Fulton, Rachel Campbell and Martyn Blair from Finvoy YFC and Jacqueline McCart, Barbara Blair, Stephen McCahon, William Hazlett and Russell Cooper from Garvagh YFC have joined forces to take part in this years 3 Act Drama Festival. This is the second year the two Clubs have performed a 3 Act Play together – last year they won “Best Play” with “A Wake in the West.”
This year’s play is entitled “A Maiden Aunt” and is written by Jimmy Keary. Gertie O’Grady, a retired teacher and spinster, comes to stay with her niece, Mary Murphy, after a spell in hospital. Mary tries to persuade her aunt to make a will. When Gertie apparently ‘dies’, Mary’s husband, Dan comes up with an elaborate plan to get their hands on her money. The cast recently performed their production for the first time in Portstewart Presbyterian Church Hall under the skilled direction of Garvagh man and former YFCU president Adrian Cooper.
The cast are scheduled to perform “A Maiden Aunt” in Ballymoney High School on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th of March. Tickets are now available and can be purchased from any cast member or any Committee Member from either Club. Please come along – a great night’s entertainment is guaranteed!!
