Praise for Halloween in Ballycastle
SIR, May I take advantage of your letters page to offer my thanks to all those who worked together to make this year's Halloween events in Ballycastle such a success.
Moyle Gateway Club, Frank Nealis and North Antrim Community Transport with all their volunteers once again produced an outstanding 'Haunted House' adventure in the Sheskburn Community Centre with hours of hard work building, running and then dismantling everything long after the crowds had gone.
Thanks to all who made that Parade the spectacle it was – drivers, drummers, puppet makers, masks, walkers and more.
Nine young people from the town can now walk tall and how their heads high as they did just that learning to walk on stilts. Their friends, families and the town can be proud of them all.
Though we never seem to have as many volunteers as we would like there is still a long and growing list of people who make it all happen, giving freely of their time and energy.
Schools, community groups, facilitators, stewards, Police, Council staff, Corrymeela workers, family, friends and funders - whoever you are and whatever piece you put into this jigsaw, thank you. It would not be possible without you.
And to those who came to enjoy the workshops, stories, haunting corridors, Parade and fireworks – thank you.
If anyone would like to help it all continue and develop through the year give me a call (028 2076 2225) or e-mail (david@fourswans.org).
Best wishes,
David Quinney Mee
Spreading Wings Co-ordinator.
