SIR, In response to a letter concerning the erection of our country's flags in our village of Ballybogey, I would like to point out that the populace in the original heart of the village are fully supportive and none apologetic to the erection of these flags as pointed out in the article your paper carried stating that an opinion had been asked from those in the village.
I can truly say that the original part of the village, the people born and bred in this area, were never asked and if had been, would have voiced support for the erection of the flags.

As a native to the village and my family circle being here for
generations, it has to be said that these seasonal decorations have been here for many years now and, indeed, an orange arch was part of them, and may appear again within the original area of the village.

We are well aware that the village has expanded and last year around the Twelfth of July celebrations we got encouraging support from the people who have moved into the new developments from further afield.

A sizeable number of these people attended the Eleventh night fire.

Due to our commitment to good overall relations within the community, a number of meetings are scheduled to be held in the Community hall to oversee this year’s Twelfth celebrations.

All are invited to attend and dates will be given soon.

Last but not least, the two people who allegedly erected the flags in our village are very welcome. All support is appreciated.

Yours etc.,

Ballybogey born and bred.
